Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Yeah Yeah Yeahs is an American indie rock band that formed in New York City in 2000. Since its inception, the band has comprised vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase, who are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo, who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif who had previously held this role. According to an interview that aired during the ABC network's Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band's name was taken from modern New York City vernacular. The band has recorded three studio albums; the first, Fever to Tell, was released in 2003. The second, Show Your Bones, was released in 2006 and was named the second best album of the year by NME. Their third studio album, It's Blitz!, was released on March 31, 2009 in the USA and on April 6, 2009 in the rest of the world.

Who: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Title: It’s Blitz Release Date: April 13th Label: Interscope Thoughts: Walking the fine line of changing your sound is a often a daring and dangerous task for a band, but something that the best bands to incredibly well. They learn to take chances, to expand their sound, and to try new things in order to adapt to changing times or just to refresh a stagnant sound. For...
Wow! Only two months into 2009 and we have already had over a dozen of highly anticipated albums. Yeah Yeah Yeahs can now be added to that list. And while you’re at it, add them to the list of bad ass covers. The Strokes might have heralded in the new age of garage rock in the early 2000s, but no one has completely owned the genre like YYY. They’re commitment to edgy, but approachable...
Here’s the full-length version of Animal Collective’s bizarre dubbed-out remix of “Zero” that we mentioned briefly the other day, complete with pitch-shifted Karen O vocals: [via]***************related:***************
What, no guitars!?  On April 13 in the UK and April 14 in the US, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will release their third album, It’s Blitz!. With strictly no guitars, Nick Zinner’s trademark clunky and erratic axe is replaced by slushy synths and what sounds like syncopated drum machine beats. Where has the sound of the classically lauded Goliath of all power trios gone? Brian Chase...

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Reviews

The last Lollapalooza of the this decade is in the books and despite, what on paper, looked like a less than impressive lineup, it turned out another weekend of exciting and memorable moments just as in years past. Every year going at Lolla, one is expected to battle oppressive heat, but on Friday this year, Mother Nature decided to throw in a little something extra - a rain storm that only...
EDITORS NOTE: About once a month the writers of the RSL get together and look through new projects, drink the finest of wines and shoot our mouths off about music and politics. (And have a pretty damn decent time, I must say!) We recently hosted a debate about the new album from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. What follows is the review of our own Nick Parker…. He defends the dramatic shift in sound...
The Mars Volta opened the BBC Radio One/NME stage in the early evening, bouncing onstage to acrobatics on the drums. I have a foggy recollection of seeing them years ago supporting some Scottish band, and not being impressed, so pleasantly surprised to see my expectations weren’t met in this case. They’re doing the rounds this summer too, stopping at the Wickerman Festival in the...
