Bon Iver

Bon Iver (pronounced /boʊniˈvɛr/[2]) is a band founded in 2007 by American indie folk singer-songwriter Justin Vernon. The band now also consists of Michael Noyce, Sean Carey, and Matthew McCaughan. The name, Bon Iver, is a play on the French "bon hiver" (good winter). Vernon independently released Bon Iver's debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago in July 2007, the majority of which was recorded while spending three months in a remote cabin in Northwestern Wisconsin.

Bon Iver Latest News

For some reason unbeknown to such peewee brains as my own, there is nothing quite like a good session by an artist you love. Whether it’s by a band whose album you know better than the way you subconsciously know the drunken stumble home when you go into autopilot at the end of a heavy night or a by a band you’ve never, ever heard of before- there’s definitely a lot...
‘Dark Was The Night’ is a double compilation in support of the Red Hot Organization - an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS. If you take away the obvious reason for buying this album and concentrate on the actual music, you come away with a decent round up of the current of cream of the US indie/alt scence. A 31 track album is always...

At the beginning of 2k8, I made a post about bands I did not listen to in 2k7. Now it is 2k9, and I will make a list of bands that I did not listen to in 2k8. It is important to understand that you are a consumer in a wide open marketplace. You allegedly have tons of options, with lots of music 2 listen 2. However, it is important 2 recognize that u usually ‘judge a band by itz name...

See also:  Artrocker.com’s own Top 12 albums of the year so far list Whether it’s from phenomenal debut albums or continued greatness from reliable favorites, one thing is for certain, 2009 has already been a very exciting year for music. Gavin: A lot happened in 2008. It seems so long ago now. Like any blog worth it’s salt and peppa though, we have decided to put together our best/worst gigs and albums of the year and used our clever little thinking boxes in our heads to have a guess (/dictate?) who will be floating boats in the next twelve months or so. Have a read and put us in our place about your favourite...
We’re nearly three weeks into 2009, but you could argue that the year (in terms of music) officially begins this week. Lots of big name players have albums out this week and trying to single out just one to purchase wouldn’t be fair. New stuff from A.C. Newman, Animal Collective, Andrew Bird, and Antony and the Johnsons? Just those alone would make it a worthwhile week for most,...
I can’t go to SXSW this year as I have no money. That’s the naked truth of the matter. What I can do, is trawl through the enormous list of showcasing bands, and make some recommendations based on the music available on each band’s website. For my sins, I’ve just started that task and boy, is there a big heap of shit heading to Austin at the beginning of March....

Bon Iver Reviews

The last Lollapalooza of the this decade is in the books and despite, what on paper, looked like a less than impressive lineup, it turned out another weekend of exciting and memorable moments just as in years past. Every year going at Lolla, one is expected to battle oppressive heat, but on Friday this year, Mother Nature decided to throw in a little something extra - a rain storm that only...
Who: Sunset Rubdown Title: Dragonslayer Release Date: June 23rd Label: Jagjaguwar Thoughts: For all my bitching and complaining about the Wolf Parade side projects and their inability to match the heights reached on Apologies to the Queen Mary, I actually really enjoy Spencer Krug as a musician and most of what he does with Sunset Rubdown. Their latest album, Dragonslayer, is a return to form...
