Caitlin Rose

Take a break from all the herky jerky artrock sounds we know and love, and check out the country genius of Caitlin Rose.

OK, so we don't feature many country bands on Artrocker (for shame) but every now and then a talent so prodigious comes along I feel we just have to talk about it, regardless of genre. Caitlin Rose may have a penchant for Motorhead and describe her music on myspace as 'Black Metal' but she plays proper, soulful country music with more suss and charisma than any one of the dreary Ryan Adams alt-country wanabees. Her cover of the Stones' Dead Flowers is as good as the original (really) and she has the coolest country voice I've heard in a looong time. At only twenty, as she says herself, she has all the time in the world. She doesn't need it - no need to patronise her about 'needing to mature' - she's already turning out the best country music you're likely to hear this year.

She deserves to be huge.

Check out her tunes on www.myspace.com/caitlinrosesongs or keep
an eye on our mp3 page for a free download coming this way soon.
