So Obama's won the race for the Democratic nomination - and I for one am glad. But he's got to be careful - he's been accused of being very flash and charismatic, and people are wondering whether he can come up with the policies.
One question people are asking is, does he actually have any policies, or will he just say anything to secure his place?
There's a lot of discussion about whether Hillary and Obama can work together as a team. I think it'd be great if they could - they both have fantastic qualities. And together, they've more chance of getting The Republicans out: in today's political atmosphere, if you can get the lesser of the two evils in power, that's at least a step towards a positive future.
So much these days relies upon superficial impressions being constructed to win over voters - and I think that probably applies to a more general point; how do you go about selling anything? It's almost as if to get any sense of achievement right now, people have to rely upon PR companies and image.
That's probably as much the fault of the consumer as it is the politician or the celebrity, because they're playing the game too, going along with it all.
There's something undoubtedly charismatic about Obama, but that's the thing - you have to watch to see if he'll do what he says. Obviously Iraq has been a disaster and Obama's anti-war stance is a positive thing - but who knows what'll happen in the next two years?
