As names go, Ming Ming and the Ching Chings is pretty questionable.  I think it’s the fact that it manages to be similar to both The Ting Tings and Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong that makes it grate so.


I think the band are doing themselves a big disservice by picking such a moniker - because as it happens, they are in a completely different league to the aforementioned shite acts.  In fact, the tracks they have currently on their myspace site are quite stupendous.  ‘Show Off’ is a frenetic early XX Teens dancefloor smasher, ‘Dawn of the Dead’ skips off into McClusky meets Pink Grease territory.  And the track we have to download sounds like a camp Cramps covering Negative Creep.  Kind of.
