PETE & THE PIRATES (Reading)
Everyone loves the Pirates and yet until now they are still a 'best kept secret' Recordings with Gareth Parton (The Go! Team, The Futureheads, TheKillers) will change all this (along with a date or two with The Good, The Bad and The Queen).
Bright, clean guitars and the almost faltering English, shins-esque vocal harmonies to fuzzy guitars, fuzzy thumping drums and jaunty guitar riffs whilst numerous tracks could fit neatly on the Velvet Underground and Nico (or perhaps more accurately 'Loaded') or the Clap your hands Say Yeah album.
Two mini albums on Stolen Recordings have been overlooked minor classics (in the labels' trademark lush DIY packaging too). Alongside the God-like pop genius that is Good Shoes' debut and soon to be released Maccabees LP, The Pirates already recorded full length album (yet to find a release!) should be one of the gems of 2007.
"Feet" is the killer new single out now on Stolen Recordings. Even Jonthan Ross has started playing this artpop gem on his Radio 2 show !!
