Tinchy Stryder is not your average east London MC. The kid’s been knocking around for years, first coming to the attention of those outside grime and his Bow manor when he won ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Sidewinder Awards back in 2003. Now turned 21 and boasting collaborative links with artists as odd as Craig David and Gang Gang Dance, Tinchy – born Kwasi Danquah – is planning to release his as-yet-untitled second album in summer ’09. We’ve a track for you already – this effort free from the auto-tuned glitz of new single “Take Me Back” (out January 19), “Do It My Way” creeps gritty with east end slank, lo-bit poly-synths chiming, flaring, fluttering over the top of bass splats and lurcher riddim just like guest MC Wiley’s Eski would have it.
Sounds Like: early Dizzee Rascal, JME, Dot Rotten
